YIMBA recently provided comments on the NEM Review Draft Report (August 2025) which highlights important reforms for the energy transition. The Review, run by an independent expert panel, aims to recommend wholesale market settings that promote investment in firmed, renewable generation and storage beyond 2027, with final recommendations due late 2025. Stakeholder consultation on the draft ran from 6 August 2025 to 17 September 2025, including national forums. Learn more here: https://www.dcceew.gov.au/energy/markets/nem-wms-review
YIMBA supports reforms that empower consumers and communities, strengthen market integrity, enable long-term clean investment, and coordinate policy for equity. Our focus is on practical delivery for First Nations communities in rural and remote regions, and on creating real pathways for Indigenous Business participation across the energy supply chain.
YIMBA backs inclusive models for community energy and aggregation, strong consumer protections and education, measures to reduce unjustified volatility and improve outage management, fairer network tariffs, long-term investment settings that open doors to smaller consortia, and coordinated implementation with First Nations voices at the table.
YIMBA’s aim is simple: turn market reform into real improvements in affordability, reliability, and participation for First Nations communities—while growing opportunities for Indigenous enterprises.
