YIMBA’s Managing Director Damien Barnes and Senior Associate Adrian Craig had a great time in Redfern enjoying the festivities of NAIDOC On the Block.

National Aboriginal and Islander Day Observance Committee (NAIDOC) Week celebrates the history, culture, and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in Australia. The week is observed not just by Indigenous Australian communities but also by the broader Australian community, corporates, government agencies, schools, local councils, and workplaces.

This year’s theme “Keep the Fire Burning! Blak, Loud and Proud,” celebrates the unyielding spirit of Indigenous communities. NAIDOC Week has its roots in the 1938 Day of Mourning, becoming a week-long event in 1975.

Damien and Adrian enjoyed a flag raising ceremony, activities, storytelling, food, dance and cultural performances.
