YIMBA is proud to have acted for the Australian Indigenous Football Council (AIFC) and negotiated the Football Treaty between the Māori’s Aotearoa Football Charitable Trust (AFCT) and the AIFC.
The Football Treaty set the stage for the Festival of Indigenous Football. A three (3) game test series held at the Sunshine Coast in the lead up to the Women’s World Cup.
Inspiring to see the quality of national representative football played by the Māori and Indigenous men and women during the festival.
Former Socceroo Craig Foster, who is also Patron of the Indigenous Roos and Indigenous Koalas said “This sport treaty is part of a new paradigm in global sport which is increasingly bound to respect and promote human rights.”
YIMBA can’t wait to see these fantastic Indigenous and Māori men and women produce even more amazing football in 2024!
